An Yves Saint Laurent (ysl iPhone 5) advert has been banned after the selling watchdog ruled the model exercised looked "unhealthily underweight".
The gennem, which appeared in print in Elle magazine, featured a black and white imagine of a women lying on the floor ready eyes closed.
The advert instigated complaints to the Advertising Standards Management (ASA) over concerns the design in the photo appeared too thin additionally questions about whether it was irresponsible.
The ASA has now upheld our own complaint and banned the posting. The watchdog said ysl iPhone "did not agree with the complainant's look that the model was unhealthily thin" but did not provide a detailed responses.
A spokesperson said: "The MANUBRIO considered that the model's pose because particular lighting effect in the gennem drew particular focus to the model's chest, where her rib dog kennel was visible and appeared named, and to her legs, where jane's thighs and knees appeared precisely the same width, and which looked actually thin, particularly in light of jane's positioning and the contrast between the narrowness of her legs and jane's platform shoes.
"We therefore judged to be that the model appeared unhealthily underweight in the image and concluded that our own ad was irresponsible. "
Elle has not responded to the complaint or even with the ASA ruling.
In December, the MANUBRIO also ruled high-street brand Elegant Outfitters had released an "irresponsible" advert featuring a "very thin" design.
Earlier this year, a separate campaign for YSL perfume Black Opium was brightened by the ASA following complaints this is glamorised drug use.
